El Socorro - Cup of Excellence Winning Farm
El Socorro farm was originally part of Hacienda San Guayaba and was reclaimed by Dr. Mario de la Cerda and his wife in 1968. In 1980, their son Juan began cultivating coffee, starting a family legacy now continued by the fourth generation. Today, Juan and his son Juan Diego focus on producing high-quality coffee through strict control of farming, harvesting, fermentation, and drying.
The 750-hectare farm uses an ecological wet mill that conserves water and experiments with controlled fermentation for consistent results. Coffees are dried on patios and in greenhouses. Over half the farm is protected natural forest, and solar panels power much of the operation.
